HR Leaders Event Activation
When event activation becomes an act in service of an employer brand's message.
- brand strategy
- graphic design
- brand activation
- live activation
The insight
At a professional event, attention is contested at every corner of the room: the brand that creates light tension and a physical memory wins more ground than an institutional speech or a static booth. The UP Luxembourg activation banked on this principle: make brand positioning literally edible, and potentially spicy.
Our deliberate choices
- No booth, no scripted presentation: we abandoned all static formats to impose movement and surprise as attention vectors.
- The light tension of spicy chocolate replaces explanatory messaging: the UP Luxembourg benefit is physically experienced before being verbally articulated.
- Photobombing with offbeat punchline placards was chosen to extend the experience into shareable content, without producing manufactured brand content.
- We refused gratuitous humor: every element of the activation (the stilt-walker, the pralines, the placards) carried a brand logic consistent with UP's positioning, simpler, more human, more effective.
The challenge
The problem
UP Luxembourg competes against legacy solutions entrenched in established habits. Convincing a crowd of seasoned professionals to consider an alternative doesn't happen through a speech: it requires a direct, memorable experience that makes the positioning tangible. The Paperjam event guaranteed presence, but not automatically attention or preference.
- Market dominated by entrenched habits
- Savvy audience, skeptical of commercial messaging
- Event presence without automatic differentiation
- Need for brand preference, not just awareness
Our response
Rather than occupy space with a booth or an institutional address, TACTIK and DEVIL & DEMONS designed a field activation based on the unexpected and direct interaction. The concept combines humor, light tension and concrete benefit to create a brand memory that participants take home with them.
- Field activation based on the unexpected
- Direct interaction mechanics, no speeches
- Concrete benefit built into the playful concept
- Organic content designed from the start
Strategic approach
The first choice was to abandon any form of top-down communication. In an event context where brand messaging drowns easily, only a physical, slightly unpredictable interaction could create the kind of moment people talk about the next day.
The unexpected as entry point
A stilt-walker in UP Luxembourg colors moves through the event space. The height, the silhouette, the orange outfit: every visual detail is a brand signal before any interaction even begins. We chose this format precisely because it doesn't explain itself, it imposes itself. In an environment saturated with ordinary stimuli, the unexpected is the only shortcut to authentic attention.
Tension as mechanism
The praline tasting mechanic, where three chocolates contain mild chili, introduces a light, consensual tension. This isn't gratuitous chance: it's an embodied metaphor for UP's positioning. Choosing an alternative means accepting slight uncertainty for real benefit. The reward, one year of administrative fees waived, anchors concrete benefit at the heart of the playful activation.
Photobombing
Placards with offbeat punchlines, held up by hostesses throughout the evening, turn every group photo into organic branded content. We designed this component not as an accessory but as a distribution channel: every snapshot shared by a participant extends UP Luxembourg's presence well beyond the Tramschapp and the evening of January 27.
Coherence of the system
Stilt-walker, hostesses, pralines, placards: every element is calibrated to work alone and amplify in combination. No decorative element without a role in the overall mechanic. This tightening of the system, within a budget under €5,000, is a discipline we systematically impose: budgetary constraint forces creative precision and guarantees message clarity.
Visual report
The evening images capture the Tramschapp atmosphere and the human density of a conference where stage and audience share the same level of attention.
