Case study · Bank of China Luxembourg
Inauguration Ceremony
Turning an April 2021 inauguration into a premium institutional ceremony, despite strict health rules and complex flow management.
- Staging of the staff photo exhibition
- Setup of the internal museum visitor path
- Integrated health protocol (signage, flow, distancing)
- Technical coordination of the inauguration ceremony
- live events
- corporate events
Key outcome
The insight
Turning health requirements into a brand protocol: distancing and masks were not meant to weaken the institutional solemnity but, on the contrary, to reinforce the perception of rigor and control expected from an international bank.
Our deliberate choices
- Ruling out decorative excess: the event had to embody premium sobriety, not compensate for constraints with spectacle.
- Structuring a mandatory linear path (ceremony, then museum) rather than free circulation, to control flow and ensure protocol compliance.
- Limiting the staging to the staff themselves (internal photo exhibition): celebrating the bank's people without relying on external installations.
The challenge
The problem
Bank of China Luxembourg held an inauguration ceremony to mark the opening of its new building on Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg City. The event was reserved for select bank staff and service providers. In line with the health rules in force at the time, a 2-meter social distance and mandatory mask-wearing were required. After the ceremony, guests had the opportunity to visit the bank's internal museum.
- Strict, evolving health protocols
- Managing flow in a new building
- Required sobriety vs. representation standards
- Coordinating the internal museum with the official ceremony
Our response
For this project, we set up a photo exhibition featuring the bank's staff, along with a temporary museum dedicated to Bank of China. We also played a key role in enforcing health measures and handling the technical setup of this inauguration event.
- Health protocol built into the staging
- Photo exhibition celebrating the teams
- Temporary Bank of China museum
- Technical coordination and flow management
Strategic approach
We opted for a sober, institutional staging, ruling out any superfluous entertainment that would have diluted the solemnity of the inauguration. The bet: turn health constraints into markers of seriousness and control.
Sober staging
The staff photo exhibition and the temporary museum shaped the visitor path without any frills. Each installation reinforced the bank's institutional identity: local roots for the teams, international reach for the group. Sobriety wasn't a limitation, it was a deliberate choice to convey the premium elegance expected.
Health protocol
Distancing, mask-wearing, flow management: we turned these requirements into markers of operational rigor. The technical setup ensured safety and smooth circulation without ever exposing the bank to reputational risk. The event proved that health compliance and institutional representation can go hand in hand.
Overall coordination
Between the official ceremony, the museum visit and protocol compliance, coordination called for full anticipation of every sequence and downtime. We managed all technical providers, handled last-minute adjustments tied to changing regulations, and secured a smooth running order.
Internal recognition
The staff photo exhibition served a dual purpose: bringing a human dimension to the event despite the masks, and symbolically rooting the new building in the bank's human history. This narrative layer set the inauguration apart from a simple premises tour.
How we worked
-
01
Scoping
Analysis of evolving health constraints and definition of the operational brief with the bank's management.
-
02
Staging
Design of the visual path (staff exhibition) and spatial layout (museum) in line with regulatory distances.
-
03
Protocol
Setup of health signage and circulation procedures to ensure smooth flow and compliance.
-
04
Coordination
On-site technical management: syncing the ceremony with the museum visit, handling guest flow.
